Hove Hornets Stinger Race Report 9th July
Sun, 09 Jul 2023 00:00
The runners that ran the Roundhill Romp thought it was hard work, then they went to Brighton for Hove Hornets Stinger. Nigel and I took our umbrellas and it worked, there were only a few drops of rain as the 201 runners including our five brave flyers set off, just after11 o’clock, down the field and along Waterhall road to the farm track. This is the start of the approximate 350 metre climb, over two miles to the top of Sweet hill. It’s a wonderful feeling (and view) when you finally reach the top. Then it’s a steep drop down a grass slope of about 275 metres over a quarter of a mile. To the water stop, then a rough climb back up hill, heading back to the Rugby club. Up and down, along a path across a field, up some steps, up a bit more then, down to the finish on the rugby field. This is a hard 10K (6.2 miles) run, and how Liam can run it in 37minutes! beats me? (Well he would wouldn’t he, I could not do it in 37 hours). The next Flyer was Justin C. in 49 minutes, another very good result. The first lady was Linda T. another good run, just over the hour. Followed a few seconds later by our second lady Michelle C. Linda was the 29th lady and Michelle was the30th Lady out of over 70 lady runners. Stephen C. ran in with a fast finish a few minutes after Michelle. All the Flyers did brilliantly given the nature of this run. NB. After this Sunday’s Henfield (7) Sorry 2 stiles is another run with a few Hills? Worthing Striders Highdown Hike. Wednesday 2nd August 7:30 pm start. (Details on, Run together – Flyers)
