Flyers at the Roundhill Romp - Race Report.

It was only a bit damp as eight intrepid Flyers set off with 423 runners down the high street and the start of the climb up Mouse Lane. After running behind Wiston House with the rain becoming a bit heavier they passed through the farmyard to the sharp left turn and the start of Chanctonbury hill. Many of the runners walk the steep part of the hill. The good news is when you reach the top the hard work is over and it’s mostly downhill for the last three miles. Along the South Downs Way back towards Steyning, around the Upper Horse Shoe and then very carefully down a steep grass slope and down into the finish. Liam again led the Flyers home 3rd overall in 35:23, a new Flyer Steve (a replacement for Paul’s sister) came second 41:20, followed by Paul 42:42, Justin was next 45:55, followed by our first lady Michelle 15 seconds over the hour. Excellent considering the conditions. Stephen was next 1:06:00, then Nigel 1:16:00 with Gerald running through in 1:30:00. The whole team did remarkably well given the appalling conditions for this very tough run.
