Moor Running Friends - 2019 Update

Hi everyone!

Happy New Year to you all!

First, a quick update on some things from the tail end of 2018.

Heaton Moor Park Donation Morning

Our recent donation morning raised £70 for the Friends. Many thanks to Helen and David for arranging access to the bowling hut, and sorting everything out. Thanks also to everyone who brought cakes - doesn't matter if you baked it or faked it - and to all of you for your generous donations.

For anyone who wasn't there, our first session of 2019 - on 19th January - will be a donation session so anything that you can spare to help with the upkeep of the park would be greatly appreciated by the Friends of Heaton Moor Park.

New Charity for 2019

We are going to be doing another 'charity year' this year, and this time we have chosen Walthew House in Shaw Heath. Walthew House is a facility that helps those with sensory loss.

If you have any ideas for fundraising, or would like to get involved in general, please let me know. We managed to raise a magnificent £350 for Charnwood last time, so lets see if we can do it again - if not a little better.

New for 2019: Challenger Series

I am thinking about starting a running class for those wishing to improve their running fitness levels. The course would run from April to September, and would include upper body strengthening (course 1), lower body strengthening (course 2), and finally putting it all together (course 3).

All courses include the exercises and the relevant running skills that would provide you with greater strength to improve your race events / ParkRun times. It's a course for those who are serious about improving, and requires a little bit of discipline to attend all or most of the sessions.

The sessions would take place on a Monday evening, at 18:30, at Heaton Mersey Bowl.

Unlike our other running sessions on Saturdays, these would be paid sessions. If you're interested or would like some more information, please let me know as soon as possible so I can assess the numbers and plan the courses accordingly.

I hope you have enjoyed the sessions in 2018, and that you continue with your running into 2019 better than ever!

See you on the 19th of January!

Chris
