As we've had a whole load of new registrations over the last few weeks I thought I would take the opportunity to say Hi and round up a couple of highlights from the last few weeks, plus some upcoming events, and then more about the future!
Highlights...
Race Season - You guys who have raced over the last few months have done fabulous, and even better it was great to see so many of you cross the line, something I normally miss if racing myself. Well done! If you've got a race booked email us and Hazel will add it to our calendar, so I know where I'm heading as Head Cheerleader!
We've seen some of you achieving your first 10k (Julia, did you ever think you would say that!), some smashing PBs and taking on half marathons, then there's Andrea.... She's booked no races but waits until a day before and takes one for the team by stepping in as someone else! Not the ideal training plan, but we like it! So Lee knows where to go if he decides not to run his marathon next month ;-)
I'm looking forward to seeing Will compete his first official race in just a couple of weeks. Recently we've been partners in crime as we line up on the finishing straight with pom poms and big cheers! It will be great to see him finish. I'm also looking forward to seeing how those who have booked their first 10k with Abbey Dash get on, although I may need to rely on Will's photo skills for this as I may be busy myself in November!
New Faces - Each week has seen a new face and I love it! We've created something that has such a wide range of abilities, with one thing in common....getting out and completing the miles. It doesn't matter how far or how fast, everyone working at their own level and pace, with the competition and challenge if you want it, and the motivation from each other. It is a pleasure to watch you all together and see the improvements too.
Upcoming Events...
parkrun - Most of run or volunteer at Oakwell Hall parkrun each Saturday. Once a month Sharon has arranged a tourist adventure, this normally includes breakfast after :-) Tomorrow some of us are heading to Doncaster for their 4th birthday. If you're not registered with parkrun, do it here and join us soon....http://www.parkrun.org.uk/register/ (See Jan newsletter for how to add us to your parkrun profile!)
Track Session - Every couple of months we book the track at Spenborough. A session with focus on speed and stamina! We are next there on Wednesday 27th September at 6.15pm, this is the only time we will charge for a session. It will be between £2.50 - £3 depending on numbers. Please see the Facebook event or book in the usual way.
The Future...
Overton - The observant among you may have noticed we now also have a session on a Tuesday evening with Andrea. This can be booked in the normal way, we are looking forward to branching out and seeing more people join us. Also our Friday sessions once per month will be with Hazel in Driglington!
Club Kit - I'm hoping to put in the next order in the next couple of weeks. If you are interested please email tingleyrunfit@outlook.com including the type of kit you would like, the size/style, whether you would like your name or not too. The sooner you all reply, the sooner I will be able to order so you can have for those Winter races!
Strava - If you don't already have it we do recommend it! And if you speak to some of the group you'll soon find they love it! Strava is a way of tracking your runs, that way you can see when you improve (you will improve :-)) and it's a great motivator. Strava is free to download to your phone, or you can link some watches to it too. Just ask if you're unsure! Then you can add us as a club on Strava so we can all motivate each other - https://www.strava.com/clubs/TingleyRunFIT
I may not see as much of you all over the next few weeks, so keep up the amazing work and keep collecting those trophies!
Nat & Strawberry :-)
