Read all about it!

At the end of November 2025, Kim Davis moved from the warmth of CasaLingua Language School to the rather chilly roads of Shotley Bridge as she completed the final component of her England Athletics Run Leader coaching course.
On an icy Tuesday evening, Kim took a group of willing running volunteers (pictured) on a fun 'fartlek' (speed play) training run after delivering her filmed warm up in the Shotley Bridge tennis dome. The dome is affectionately know as the igloo and on that evening, a thorough warm up was definely in order as temperatures dropped to just above zero!
Fast forward a few weeks, Kim is now a fully qualified 'Run Together' Run Leader and her passion for teaching, all things languages and running are starting to take shape. Kim's simple idea is to promote mental and physical wellbeing and to create a welcoming space for anyone who wants to join her. 'LinguaRun Consett™' is the name that Kim has chosen for her local running group but don't panic - you don't need to be able to speak a language to join in! Coached sessions are lead in English, but you are more than welcome to practise your French, Spanish or Italian with Kim during or after the session.
There is now a LinguaRun™ facebook group so that members can keep an eye out for the links to her organised Run Together sessions in Consett. Kim will also be using her social media platforms to encourage people in her language learning community to seek out fellow runners and head out on their own organised 'linguaruns' in a joint effort to exercise the brain and legs in one go! Kim is looking forward to connecting with likeminded people and she would love to find some ambassadors to join her in offering organised 'LinguaRuns' further afield.
Kim has scheduled the inaugural LinguaRun™ to take place in Consett on Tuesday 16th December at 19.15. As is the case with all Run Together sessions, participants are required to book ahead, initially registering for free via the Run Together website or app. To book on, simply look at the 'coached sessions' page on the LinguaRun™ site and select your run from the calendar. You can then read a little bit about the session and check what is needed (usually suitable clothing and ideally a head torch/chest light) so that you are fully informed and well prepared.
Kim's enthusiasm in the classroom is unquestionable and her running groups will benefit from her positivity and desire to help people come together and learn. The LinguaRun™ motto is very simple: Run. Talk. Connect.
So now you know about it, are you in?
