FAQ

Where do you meet?

During spring/summer we meet at Heaton Park, St Margaret's Car Park M25 2GT (the car park on the left as you enter the park, opposite the bowling green). Parking is currently free after 5pm and there are usually plenty of spaces.

During autumn/winter we meet at St Mary's Park Car Park M25 1GG. Parking is free and again there are uually penty of spaces.

All sessions start at 6pm, last up to 60 mins and finish at the same location.

Are the sessions free?

Our sessions are 100% free the only thing we ask is that you try to book on using the "Our Run" link above, or by using the runner app.  By booking on it enables your run leaders to plan the session safely and ensure there are sufficient run leaders for the size of the group.

Do I need to be a runner / how fast do I need to be?

Our group caters for a wide range of abilities and our main ethos is to "Run Together". The group is aimed at people who have completed a couch to 5k or for those who running isn't completely alien. Speed is not an issue as we will always ensure that our leaders are spread out through the group with at least one at the front and one at the back. Regular regroups and active regrouping are also used to try and keep the group as together as possible.

What should I wear?

The following items are recommended and can be found online, in supermarkets, second-hand stores. Expensive kit does not make a good runner, the focus is on comfort and safety.

  • Running / walking trainers - well fitting/comfortable trainers are important. Many stores offer runners a free gait analysis and some runners find it beneficial to wear trainers that suit their running style
  • Socks - any normal / trainer socks are fine but there are running socks availabe that are designed to help prevent blisters and provide additional cushioning.
  • Shorts / Leggings - as with everything else the focus should be on comfort however ones with zips / pockets are particulary useful for storing keys/phones etc.
  • T-shirt - we would recommend a lightweight, breathable and non-absorbent polyester t-shirt.
  • Layers - mainly for the colder winter months. A long sleeve gym top and / or a breathable shower proof running jacket.
  • High-Viz Accessories - during the winter months we will be running in the dark so high-viz tops/bands/vest and lights are highly recommended.

What if there is a problem during the session or I have questions / feedback?

Please speak to one of our run leaders if there is an issue during the session. As a group we welcome any feedback from both new and existing runners. You can do this in person or via our facebook page. When giving feedback keep in mind that our leaders are all volunteers who dedicate their time to ensuring a safe inclusive and enjoyable experience for all.
