Thornbury 10K Thursday 13 July
Eight Staple Hill Runners skipped a Thursday night training session to run the Thornbury 10k.
After checking in at race HQ at the Rugby Club, we made our way to the start line, a short walk along the lane.
The route winds through rural country lanes through Rockhampton across to Falfield, with a brief stretch along the A38 before winding its way back to the rugby club. The roads weren’t closed to traffic but for most of the race it was traffic free country lanes and you could enjoy the scenic countryside. It wasn’t a completely flat race but there were no big hills just a few longer slower inclines, the one at the 6km mark wasn’t so welcome!
The route was well marshalled with much appreciated encouragement as we ran along. Whilst Staple Hill Runners may have been fewer in number than some of the other running clubs there was a good atmosphere with a mix of different clubs present. Frampton Cotterell Harriers were out in force and roared everyone over the finish line.
As usual, smiling faces at the end, pleased with our new shiny medals and a refreshing slice of watermelon!
Thank you Rosie Dinnen for the report!
