Bradley Stoke 10K Sunday 11 June
Staple Hill Runners turned up in force to Bradley Stoke 10k on Sunday 11 June. We managed to field 37 runners in the event, a fantastic turn out. Some of us were seasoned veterans of previous events while others were trying out a competitive 10k for the first time. Although everyone was understandably nervous they quickly relaxed with the friendly support of their club mates. Final nerves were quelled by taking part in Terry the Tornado's never to be forgotten warm up routine (not forgotten by Phil Partridge anyway).
The race itself was over a varied and scenic course through the Three Brooks Nature Reserve with a few road sections. Conditions were warm so the two drink stations were more than welcome. Also welcome was the support of the many course marshals and the locals who turned out to watch.
Everybody who took part thoroughly enjoyed it (when they’d finished…). Several people got pb’s but most were just pleased to be able to say they had completed a 10k event (and got the colourful t-shirt to prove it!)
Special mention to Lorna Massey who was first in the VF60 category, Vicky Catnach first in the VF35 and of course to Helen who was first lady and second overall.
All in all a great event for Staple Hill Runners and I am sure we are all looking forward to the next.
Thanks to Alan Cook for the run report!
