We run Through the firm trails, beach, and shared cycle paths in Formby.. All we ask is that you're comfortable running 5 km at your own easy social pace without stopping, and that you join us at least once a month.
We are an unaffiliated community running club, and follow best practice guidlines from England Athletics. Dogs are very welcome (in fact encouraged!) on our runs. To join FRC, please click on this Registration Form HERE. First 4 weeks of membership is temporary until you've ran with us at least once.
6k upwards, with cut-offs at 9k, 12k, 18k+ for anyone wanting longer distance. Speed of pace is not important as we use loop-back to keep the group together. We meet MOST Sundays though there are exceptions due to competing in local races.
Intervals are a great way of improving your pace whether you're a 5k or Ultra Runner. An interval is a hard run followed by a recovery period, with that pattern repeated several times within the training session.
Hosted by Pinewoods Wednesday (Facebook group). Around 8k / 1 hour through the Ainsdale trails. Speed of pace is not important.
We encourage our members to attend parkrun. For those unaware, parkrun is a free social 5k event that takes place at 09:00 in approx. 20 countries througout the World. As long as you present your barcode at the end, you are given a time and a place. When registering for parkrun or when updating your profile, you can select Formby Running Club from the drop-down list of affiliated clubs.
We encoarage members to compete in parkrun, and local races; our regular run schedule is timed accordingly. If you're new to beach and trail running, please see the Run Routes tab.
