Ready. Steady. Go!

The 2026 Newburn Running Club (NRC) Grand Prix Club Championship is officially underway, after a strong start at Tyne Green Park Run & Chester le Street Park Run.

The Grand Prix is open to those with first claim NRC membership and runs from February to October 2026, featuring 19 varied free events and paid races.

It is designed to encourage personal improvement, celebrate participation and proudly promote our club. Whilst there is naturally an element of healthy competition, already the first two events of the championship highlighted the strong sense of support and camaraderie which defines NRC and its ethos - “Going Further Together”.

A 5K baseline is used to track individual progression, alongside opportunities to earn bonus points through: cross country & relay events, a track session, marshalling and even a sea dip (for those brave enough!). Prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place will be awarded at our Annual General Meeting (AGM) in November.
