A Year on the Trails: Bedfordshire Trail Runners in 2025
As 2025 draws to a close, it’s a good moment to look back at what’s been another memorable year for Bedfordshire Trail Runners, proudly part of the England Athletics RunTogether community. While we enjoy a good statistic, the real story of the year is found on muddy paths, woodland trails, and in the conversations shared while running side by side.
The figures below reflect our organised RunTogether sessions — but they don’t capture everything. They don’t include the regular parkrun meet-ups, the shared race days, or the informal miles run together outside the schedule. Those moments matter just as much and are part of what makes our group what it is.
Running Together, Week After Week
Over the course of the year, 104 different runners joined us across 106 group sessions. Tuesdays and Thursdays remained the backbone of our week, with 45 Tuesday runs and 41 Thursday sessions, while 15 Sunday runs gave us the chance to slow things down, explore further, and enjoy the social side of trail running.
All told, we spent over 6,300 minutes running together, adding up to 105 hours on the trails. That’s a lot of shared effort, encouragement, and fresh air.
More Than Miles
Trail running with Bedfordshire Trail Runners has never been just about distance or pace. 2025 included a social curry run, a summer pub run, and even a trail walk, proving that being part of the group isn’t limited to running fast or far. We also enjoyed two invites from other running clubs, strengthening connections within the local running community.
Alongside the official sessions were countless parkruns, race meet-ups, post-run coffees, and finish-line celebrations — the moments that don’t show up in the stats but keep people coming back.
The Moments We’ll Remember
Of course, it wouldn’t be a proper trail-running year without a few stories:
There were no cow attacks (another successful year), one zip slide ridden, five tree swings swung, and one sheep fence rescued. We also managed to get lost on a golf course twice, spun a roundabout once, and laughed our way through it all. Trail running, after all, is as much about adventure as it is about running.
Why We Run Together
As a RunTogether group, our focus is simple: creating a friendly, inclusive space where people of all abilities can enjoy running outdoors together. There’s no pressure, no one left behind, and always someone to chat to along the way.
Whether you’re new to running, returning after a break, or just curious about taking your running off-road, you’ll find a warm welcome with Bedfordshire Trail Runners.
