Tick Awareness for Runners: Stay Safe on Bedfordshire Trails!

Love running outdoors? So do ticks.

At Bedfordshire Trail Runners, we’re all about exploring beautiful trails — but that means we need to stay smart about tick bites and Lyme disease.

Ticks are active now, especially in woods, grasslands, and parkland across Bedfordshire. They can carry Lyme disease and often go unnoticed until it’s too late.

🟢 Protect yourself on every run:
✅ Apply tick repellent before you head out
✅ Wear long sleeves and light-coloured clothing
✅ Shower and check your skin straight after your run
✅ Remove ticks safely with a tick remover or fine tweezers
✅ Contact your GP if you feel unwell after a bite

🎯 Tick bites can happen to anyone — even during a short run. Stay alert, especially in spring and summer when ticks are most active.
